The next time
that you are in the Dum Dum area for work and are hungry, then head straight to
Amigos on 87/2/27,
DDC Road, Opposite Ghughudanga Police
Phari. Though it is not as popular as the restaurants in tangra; it does dole out
irresistible Chinese delicacies. In terms of ambience and décor it cannot be
compared to any kind of high end restaurants. There is nothing extraordinary about
the ambience and décor. It is a very small and cozy joint. A glance at the menu
will reveal that they do not have much to offer but the fare is simple and reasonably
priced.
The ideal way
to start your lunch or dinner is with their chicken or veg Thai soup. The soup
has that characteristic Thai flavor- a balance of sweet, sour, spicy and salty.
Another soup recommendation is their chicken hot and sour soup. Both the soups are mildly hot
with a good amount of mushrooms and other vegetables thrown in. This can be
followed by their chicken chow. The serving is enormous with good amounts of
chicken thrown in. Their Sichuan and hot garlic chicken are the other brilliant
dishes served up by the food joint. True to its name, the dishes are fiery and
the meat pieces are big and succulent. Apart from their chicken items, their
prawn items are equally well made. Their sweet and sour prawn is the much
eulogized dish of this eatery. The prawns are tender and juicy and come in a
bed of rich and colorful sweet and sour sauce. Their snack items are crowd
pullers; from their Momos (pan fried, fried and steamed) to their pepper
chicken and crispy baby corn; all of them are mouthwatering appetizers. For a
qualitative and quantitative food in a no frills kind of setting Amigos is
definitely a beckoner.
