PREVIEW: ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE V MUMBAI INDIANS ON MAY 14, 2012

Countdown has already begun for the playoffs of IPL 2012 and still some teams are struggling to get qualified for the playoffs! Today, on May 14, 2012, there are two matches; the first is between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians which will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore from 4.00 PM onwards. This is a very crucial match for both the teams to confirm their position in the playoffs because both the teams need one win to get into the qualifying round.

The overall performance of Royal Challengers Bangalore is outstanding at the moment and the team is riding on a winning streak. In their last two matches, they got an impressive win but this time, it is a tough challenge for the team because the opponent is Mumbai Indians. Bangalore has a fantastic combination for batting order with incredible Chris Gayle, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Ab de Villers. Compared to Mumbai, batting order for Bangalore is quite explosive but bowling squad is not as efficient as Mumbai although replacement of Vettori with Sri Lankan veteran, Muralitharan has come out as a trump card for Bangalore. The only thing needed tonight for a win for Bangalore is a 180+ score which will be really challenging to chase for Mumbai.

Throughout this tournament, the bowling squad was mainly responsible for Mumbai’s victories. Since the first match of this IPL, the batting order was worrying except for the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders where two batsmen were the main backbone for the much coveted win. Inclusion of South African batsman H Gibbs has given a boost to the team’s batting order and Rohit Sharma has proved himself to be excellent in bat in their last match. On that night, Sharma got an impressive 109 not out for 60 balls which paved the way towards victory. So, if Mumbai succeeds in giving a striking batting partnership today along with the attacking delivery of their fabulous bowlers, then another win is confirmed for Mumbai.

However, this win can leave a team to the playoffs and a loss can leave the team in a gasping state to be in the playoffs. In today’s match, Mumbai is in a favorable position than Bangalore because among 13 matches played so far, Mumbai has got 16 points whereas Bangalore has one point less than Mumbai from the same 13 matches. So there is an additional pressure over Bangalore and they have to overcome all these pressure and have to bag a win to get qualified in the playoffs. Get ready to enjoy this exciting match!
