“The Lucky One,” is one of those
predictable romantic movies which captures some very emotional and romantic
moments beautifully. It’s a good one-time watch and will definitely appeal to
female audiences who are fond of watching romantic flicks.
Author Nicholas Sparks who has been writing
romantic novels for quite some time now has come up with yet another love story
that glorifies love and romance further.
The movie is about Logan Thibault ( Zac
Efron), who is in the army (marines) and has served three outings during the Iraq
war. Logan finally makes up his mind to quit the army, but before he can do
that he has a task ahead of him that he wants to finish. Logan desperately
wants to find the woman who’s photograph he has been carrying every since he
has been in the war. In fact, his friends and him feel that it is Beth’s (the
girl he needs to find) picture that had kept him alive all these years.
Therefore, he makes it his mission to find the girl who has been showering luck
upon him (according to his belief). Logan wants to meet her and fall in love
with her. But while he may harbour his own fantasies, love is not quite as
simple as he assumes. It is in his story telling that Nicholas manages to win
the hearts of romantic movie lovers.
Zac uses the internet to locate her and
finds that she is actually working for a dog training sanctuary based in North
Carolina. He meets her there and starts working for her to fall in love with
her. However, fate has other plans as her ex-husband turns up out of nowhere
and makes the film’s plot a little frivolous.
Zac’s performance is good. In fact,
throughout the film you will find him talking and smiling rarely. Zac has
played the character exactly the way it has been described in the book. Even Taylor
Schilling's role as Beth has been impressive in the movie. She experiences a
gamut of emotions - good and bad as she tries to establish the fact that she is
a real good mother.
If you are looking for something different
in the movie you had better changed your plans for the plot and story are
completely predictable. However, if you want to watch a movie that has a little
bit of drama and lots of cuddling and love making sequences, then go ahead and
watch the movie with your mate.
