PREVIEW: CHENNAI SUPER KINGS IN IPL 2012 FINAL

Slow and steady wins the race- may be Chennai Super Kings is on their way to prove this once more. Two times IPL champion, Chennai Super Kings is again in the Final of IPL 2012. On May 27, 2012, Chennai team will play against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Final at MA Chidambaram Stadium and this match will start at 8.00 PM IST. This is the third time in a row that Chennai is in the final and if this time they manage to achieve the championship title, it will be a hat trick for this team and a remarkable incident in the short history of IPL.

During the league stages, they were lacking both in batting and bowling and just depending on their luck, they managed to get into the playoffs by having only 8 victories out of 16 league matches. Then in the Eliminator match and in the following Qualifier 2 match, they have proved their power and strength which remained subdued throughout the league stage. In these two matches of the playoffs against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils, they have given an impressive innings with Murali Vijay in an outstanding and explosive form in the Qualifier 2 match. Mainly his innings has propelled his team to the final. An electrifying IPL century of 113 from 58 balls! Besides Murali, Dwayne Bravo has been superb throughout this tournament and on last night against Delhi, he has again proved himself successful in bat with 33 from only 12 balls.

The bowling department of Chennai does not need any analysis because Bravo, Ashwin, Morkel, Hilfenhaus and Jakti have been excellent in most of the matches with Hilfenhaus as the most reliable bowler of Dhoni. The overall Chennai camp is mainly studded with all-rounders. Among the eleven players, 8 are good batsmen. So Chennai score can easily reach beyond 200 once again if all the batsmen are in their best form tomorrow. But this time they have to face Kolkata bowlers who have proved themselves as one of the best bowlers in this IPL.

While Chennai is hoping for a hat trick in getting the IPL Championship title, their luck and supporters are in full favor of this team. Moreover, the match will be played at their home ground which is undoubtedly an additional plus point for any team. Looking at their last two mind blowing performances, it is quite predictable that Chennai will once more hold the trophy only if they manage to maintain the same performance rate. The western bookies like 32Red, Betfair, WBX and Betdaq are offering odds of 8/11, 3/4, 37/50 and 73/100 respectively on Chennai victory.

Probable squad for Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (C & W), Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Dwayne Bravo, Subramaniam Badrinath, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shadab Jakati, Ben Hilfenhaus.

PREVIEW: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS IN IPL 2012 FINAL

Since the starting of Indian Premier League in 2008, Kolkata Knight Riders have been longing for this day to come when they will play in the IPL Final and grab the prestigious IPL championship title. Finally the team is on the way to fulfil their dream in IPL 2012 and they will achieve this coveted title once they defeat Chennai Super Kings in the final on May 27, 2012.

The final match of this IPL has been scheduled at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai and the match will start at 8.00 PM IST. After a glamorous and colorful inaugural ceremony, this stadium once more ready with the same excitement and thrill to host the IPL 2012 Final. Kolkata team is already in Chennai and is ready to fulfil their dream.

In all these years, this team has gone through many incidents and the most important among them was when Captain Saurav Ganguly had been replaced by Gautam Gambhir before IPL 2011. It really took a toll on the team’s mental strength because many supporters set back their support from this team as Saurav is an iconic figure in Bengal. However, this year, Kolkata has won back hearts of many supporters once more with their impressive performance throughout the league matches. Out of the 16 league matches, this team won 10 matches and retained the second position in the Points Table which smoothened their way to the playoffs. In the Qualifier 1 match, when Kolkata confronted table topper Delhi Daredevils in Pune ground, Kolkata boys smashed Delhi in a fabulous way and moved to the final.

In that match, they batted first and left Delhi to chase 162. Throughout this tournament, Captain Gambhir has been in an explosive form to give a boost to his team score. In most of the matches, he received a good partnership from either Kiwi batsman, Brendon McCullum or from South African veteran Jacques Kallis. Last night also, these three were in good strike rate with Gambhir at 200.00. Moreover, that day, Pathan finally returned to his explosive form to get 40 from 21 balls. Although this was a good score for slow wicket in Pune but for tomorrow’s match, they need to look for 190+ score. Compared to the bowling squad, the batting order is not so strong for Kolkata and so when they are looking for the IPL 2012 Championship Cup, the batting line up needs to be more consistent to get a challenging score for the opponent.

The bowling department is very strong for this team because the magical spell of Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Kallis, Iqbal Abdulla, Balaji and Bhatia are working fabulously. In most of the winning matches, the main credit goes to the attacking bowlers. Narine’s bowling is always a threat for the batsman and Kallis has proved himself equally competent in bat and ball. They need to show the same spells in their delivery in tomorrow’s match to push the rival to a corner like Qualifier match.

Although Kolkata is in a formidable form but after Chennai’s innings in Qualifier 2 match, it is a serious matter for Kolkata to tackle their opponent in a planned way to get the victory. With so much support and pray from the supporters, it is hopeful that this time, Kolkata will succeed. The western bookies like 32Red, Betfair, WBX and Betdaq are offering odds of 19/16, 6/5, 29/25 and 119/100 respectively on Kolkata victory.

Probable squad for Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir (C), Brendon McCullum (W), Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Laxmi Shukla, Debabrata Das, Rajat Bhatia, Sunil Narine, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Iqbal Abdulla.

DELHI DAREDEVILS IN QUALIFIER 2 OF IPL 2012 ON MAY 25, 2012

Ending the league matches in a superb and commendable way, Delhi Daredevils was the first team to get into the playoffs. Being in the top position in the tally table, the team played their first playoff match against second placed Kolkata Knight Riders on May 22. But when their fabulous performance was much needed in the Qualifier 1 match, the team players faltered slightly and their opponent Kolkata team took the advantage of the situation to make their way into the final.

However, being in the top position, Delhi will get another opportunity to make their way into the final on May 25, 2012. Tomorrow Qualifier 2 match of the playoffs will be played between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings, the winner of yesterday’s Eliminator match. This match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai from 8.00 pm onwards.

With a number of explosive batsmen in the team, Delhi Daredevils is strong enough to clash down the moral of the rival bowlers but unfortunately this strategy did not work last night. Throughout the group matches, the team players proved them as the most consistent team and what they have missed last night, they will surely look for grabbing that tomorrow. While analyzing the last match, there were a number of mistakes in Shewag’s team. Firstly, for low and slow wicket, this team appeared in the cricket field with only four medium pacers and one spinner. Secondly, the final order of eleven players needed a revision when they lost some early wickets. Ross Taylor should have come up at 5 and later Jayawardena admitted this mistake.

However, after giving such an impressive performance throughout the league, along with all IPL viewers, Delhi boys are also hoping to play in the final and for that they have to overcome all the previous mistakes in tomorrow’s match to wipe out Chennai Super kings from this IPL 2012. Captain Virender Shewag and David Warner make a powerful opening partnership to raise fire in the field and they have to do so tomorrow. Chennai bowlers will for these two big wickets followed by middle order batsmen, Jayawardena, Ojha, Taylor and Negi. At time Pathan appears as an explosive all-rounder to give a big boost to the team score. To ensure their position in the final, Delhi batsmen have to make a 200+ challenging score against Chennai.

On the other hand, Morne Morkel is the gem of the bowling squad. He is one of the leading wicket takers in this season with 25 wickets from 16 league matches. He along with Negi, Yadav and Pathan has to do the rest of the work by taking regular wickets. If all these factors work properly, then it is very tough to restrict Delhi.

Also Delhi is a favorite tomorrow because of its formidable performance level and the consistency that this team maintained throughout the season. Contrary to this prediction, the western bookies predicted that there is 47% chance for Delhi to get a victory. Bookies such as William Hill, Paf, Bwin and Bet365 are offering 1/1 odds whereas Bet-at-home is offering 4/5 on a Delhi victory.

Probable squad for Delhi Daredevils: Virender Sehwag (c), Ross Taylor, Naman Ojha (wk), Mahela Jayawardene, David Warner, Venugopal Rao, Irfan Pathan, Morne Morkel, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron.

PREVIEW: CHENNAI SUPER KINGS IN QUALIFIER 2- MAY 25, 2012

Just a week back Chennai Super Kings- the two times IPL champion was almost dead! When the other three competitors were struggling for the playoffs, they were almost out of the playoffs. However, fortune smiled on them. The strongest competitor lost their last match, which ensured the fourth position for Chennai in the playoffs. Throughout the group matches, this team played in an underrated way but their luck favored a lot to get qualified in the playoffs.

Being in the playoffs, yesterday, Chennai played against Mumbai in the Eliminator match where they smashed their rival and got an impressive victory of 38 runs. So, to be in the final Chennai boys have to go through another round and that is the Qualifier 2 match. In this match, Chennai will confront Qualifier 1 loser Delhi Daredevils on May 25, 2012. This match has been scheduled at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai from 8.00 PM IST.

At this stage of IPL 2012, something unexpected is happening. After a marvelous innings throughout this tournament, when Delhi’s position was almost confirmed in the final, Kolkata defeated Delhi in Qualifier 1 match. On the other hand, Chennai has been an underrated team compared to other playoff teams but they managed to play an electrifying innings in the Eliminator match against Mumbai to move up to Qualifier 2. In their last match against Mumbai Indians, till 15 over, Chennai managed to get only 114 runs for 5 wickets and that too mainly for two superb innings from Badrinath and Hussey. Then Captain Dhoni took the responsibility to give a boost to the team score to 187 along with Dwayne Bravo.  This unbroken partnership came up with 73 runs from only 29 balls.

Besides these batsmen, bowlers have also done a miracle in the pitch by taking up quick wickets. Bravo and Morkel were superb last night and the silent but one of the most attacking performer, Hilfenhaus has done a great job throughout the innings. He has taken 11 wickets from 7 matches in this IPL. Ashwin is the most reliable bowler with an average economy rate of 6.32.

This superb combination of batting and bowling squad has done a great job for this team which has moved Chennai team one step closer to the IPL 2012 final. Chennai supporters are expecting another such marvelous innings from their favourite team players tomorrow which would open the door for them to the final.

The bookies in the western world predicted that there is 53% chance for Chennai to play in the final. Some renowned bookies such as Bet365 and William Hill are offering 4/5 odds on a win for Chennai whereas other bookies such as Paf and Bwin are offering 3/4 odds. Bet-at-home is offering 7/10.

Probable team players for Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Michael Hussey, Murali Vijay, S Badrinath, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, Shadab Jakati, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ben Hilfenhaus.

PREVIEW OF MUMBAI INDIANS IN THE PLAYOFFS: ELIMINATOR MATCH ON MAY 23, 2012

After giving an overall impressive performance in the league matches, Mumbai Indians succeeded to retain their third position in the Points Table and now when they are in the playoffs, this is the time for them to play a massive innings against Chennai Super Kings in the Eliminator match to smoothen their way to the final. This match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on May 23, 2012 from 8.00 PM sharp.

Since the beginning of IPL 5, Mumbai Indians have been in the limelight as they clashed Chennai in their home ground at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in the inaugural match of this season. Mumbai got a fabulous win by 8 wickets. Later, when these two teams confronted for the second time at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Chennai was again defeated by 2 wickets. Based on these statistical reports, Mumbai is a favorite for tomorrow’s match. Not very explosive and not too disappointing, Mumbai Indians played in a consistent way throughout the series to pave their way into the playoffs.

Throughout this league, Mumbai Indians have got a number of marginal wins and finally out of the 16 matches, they bagged 10 victories. Rohit Sharma has been the lead scorer for this team this season with 419 runs. In some of the matches, he has been outstanding with some explosive innings for his team. Rayadu has been another such maestro player who has also contributed a lot for teams win. But the master blaster veteran and the former captain of this team, Sachin Tendulkar has not been so good in bat this season barring a couple of matches. Dwayne Smith has proved himself as an explosive batsman in the last match against Rajasthan Royals and he has also been in a formidable form throughout the league.

While the batting order struggled in some of the matches, the bowling department has never faced any trouble like that as Lasith Malinga and RP Singh have never allowed it but have created trouble for opponent team with their attacking bowling. From 13 matches in the league stage, Malinga picked 22 wickets to keep his team in a secured place as long as bowling is concerned. Amidst these batsmen and bowlers, Kieron Pollard has come out as an X-factor for this team and in any precarious situation; he has always appeared as a shield for this team. With 204 runs and 15 wickets from league matches, Pollard has proved himself as an ideal T20 all-rounder.

If all these players are ready to be in their best forms tomorrow to grace the Bangalore cricket ground, then it is very difficult for Chennai to make a way through this. Moreover, according to a bookie, Paf, the odds on a win for Mumbai is 17/20 whereas, bookies like William Hill, BetFred and Bet365 are offering 4/5 odds on Mumbai’s victory. All these bookies predict a 52.39% chance for Mumbai to come out as a winner to play in Qualifier 2.

PROBABLE XIs FOR MUMBAI INDIANS: Harbhajan Singh (c), James Franklin, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Dwayne Smith, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Kieron Pollard, Dhawal Kulkarni, RP Singh, Lasith Malinga.

PREVIEW OF CHENNAI SUPER KINGS IN THE ELIMINATOR MATCH ON MAY 23, 2012

After getting through a tough league in this IPL 2012, Chennai Super Kings have finally made their way into the playoffs and being on the fourth position in the DLF IPL Standings 2012, they have to face the third placed team, Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match of the playoffs on May 23, 2012. This second playoff match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore from 8.00 PM onwards.

Chennai was in full form in the last two IPL seasons and had also succeeded in getting the coveted championship title. But this year, the team is totally out of form, though it will not be wrong to say thattheir star is very strong which has paved their way into the playoffs. When everything was almost out of their way, their luck brought back everything. The tooth and nail competition started when Punjab, Rajasthan, Bangalore and Chennai started their struggle for the playoffs. When Punjab lost their last match and surprisingly Deccan defeated Rajasthan, the only existing competitor was Bangalore. Throughout the series, Bangalore has been superb and performed comparatively better than Chennai with their striking batsmen and competent bowlers. This strong team literally huffed and puffed to chase 134 against Deccan in their last match and finally lost the match putting an end to the competition for playoffs. So what everybody will call it for Chennai- it is obviously a strong star factor.

Coming to Chennai’s performance in the field in 2012 IPL, the team started this series with an embarrassing loss against Mumbai whom they will confront once more in this qualifying round. They got their first win against Deccan and the confidence gathered from this win was soon shattered when they again experienced another disappointing loss against Delhi. In this way they finally managed to get 8 victories from the 16 matches played in the league stage.

Faf du Plessis has got success in batting in most of the matches and while he appeared as one of the consistent batsmen of this team, Michael Hussey joined this team to give a good support to Plessis. In a couple of matches, Morkel and captain Dhoni have also given a big hit to the team score but till the end of the league matches, Plessis has been the best performer in bat for this team with a strike rate of 130.92. In the bowling squad, there are a good number of bowlers to deliver fiery spells for Mumbai’s top order batsmen. Jadeja, Bravo and Hilfenhaus are the assets of this team who can knock out Mumbai from the competition tomorrow to make their way towards final.

The most important thing for these teams is that the winning team in this match has to look for two successive wins to play in the final which is really tough at this stage of this tournament. On the other hand, the western bookies are offering different odds for this match and according to their prediction; Chennai has less chance to win this match with 47.61%. Some bookies such as Bwin, William Hill, Bet365 and BetFred are offering 1/1 odds on a victory for Chennai whereas Paf and Bet-at-home are offering 9/10 and 17/20 odds.

PROBABLE PLAYERS FOR CHENNAI SUPER KINGS: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Michael Hussey, Faf du Plessis / Albie Morkel,Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay,Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo,   Ravichandran Ashwin, Srikkanth Anirudha,Ben Hilfenhaus, Shadab Jakati.

PREVIEW: DELHI DAREDEVILS IN QUALIFIER 1 ON MAY 22, 2012

Tomorrow, the first match of the playoffs of this fifth season of IPL will be played where table topper Delhi Daredevils and second positioned Kolkata Knight Riders will confront each other. The match will be played at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune from 8.00 PM onwards.

This match will obviously be a hard and challenging for both the teams because these two teams have been the most consistent squads throughout the league. Delhi Daredevils have been outstanding with 11 victories from 16 matches played. In the first 10 matches, Delhi enjoyed eight wins but after that in the remaining six matches, they only managed to get three triumphs. So although Delhi is supposed to be a mammoth team this season, the team players are well aware that their batting and bowling strikes were not at their best levels during the last couples of matches.

However when Delhi Daredevils confirmed their position in the playoffs before the third last match in the league, Captain Virender Shewag dropped himself along with few of his best players to take a break for this qualifying round. So after missing the last two games these explosive players of this team will be back tomorrow to give another impressive performance to sway their way to the finals. Although in the last few IPL seasons, Shewag was not so successful in batting but this time he has come out as an explosive batsman with orange cap and also as the main figure behind a challenging score for his team. To support this explosive Captain, his team mates, Ross Taylor and David Warner have always been ready and if these three outstanding batsmen are ready to grace the Pune ground tomorrow, then Delhi can score 200+ run.

Delhi has been superb in both batting and bowling but for such an important match, Delhi needs to reform their bowling squad by replacing new bowlers like Aaron and Russell by experienced bowlers like Nadeem and Merwe.

Now during the league stage, when the two teams confronted in two matches played in Kolkata and Delhi respectively, the outcomes have been 1:1 which means the home team lost at their home ground. So Delhi is well aware that Kolkata is quite a strong team to tackle and they have to perform their best to be in the final through this match only.

According to some bookies like BestFred and William Hill, these two squads are competent enough to take each other on and both of these bookies are offering 10/11 odds on a victory of these two teams. However, some other bookies like Paddy Power and Totespur are offering 9/10 and 5/6 respectively. What is similar among these bookies is- both the teams are getting the same odds.

PROBABLE XIs FOR DELHI DAREDEVILS: Virender Sehwag(c), Ross Taylor, Mahela Jayawardene, David Warner,  Naman Ojha(k), Venugopal Rao, Irfan Pathan, Morne Morkel, Pawan Negi, Van der Merwe, Umesh Yadav.

PREVIEW: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS IN QUALIFIER 1 ON MAY 22, 2012

At the end of the league stage of Indian Premier League 2012, Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders succeeded in getting the first two positions respectively in the DLF IPL Standings 2012. So these two teams will be facing each other in the Qualifier 1 match which is the first game of the playoffs. This match will be played at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune on May 22, 2012 at 8.00 PM sharp.
This is a very important match for both the teams as the winning team in tomorrow’s match will be directly placed in the final match whereas the losing team will get another chance to play against the winner of the Eliminator match. So the loser in tomorrow’s match will get another chance to reframe their destiny and this is the positive side for the teams in the top two positions in the Points Table.

While Delhi Daredevils have been a balanced team in both batting and bowling, Kolkata Knight Riders have a very strong bowling line up but their batting order is not as strong as bowling. This is where Delhi can take over Kolkata. In their 16 league matches, Kolkata bagged 10 victories which also include the abandoned match against Deccan. But contrary to their initial winning matches, their batting order started to wobble in the last few matches which is a matter to worry for Kolkata as tomorrow’s match is a vital game to give a hit to their fate for the final.

Brendon McCullum has been superb in all the IPL seasons so far and along with him, this time Captain Gautam Gambhir has been impressive in batting who is also enjoying orange cap like Delhi Daredevils Captain Virender Shewag. Apart from these two explosive openers, the team is seriously looking for a fabulous partnership from their middle order batsmen, Jacques Kallis and Yousuf Pathan. If all these batsmen are in their best forms tomorrow then Kolkata will be able to smoothen their way towards final very easily because the team doesn’t have to worry much with their bowling squad. Moreover, Pune ground is a bowling pitch and so the attacking Kolkata bowlers will look for Delhi wickets in regular intervals to push the rival into a corner.

PROBABLE TEAM PLAYERS FOR KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS: Gautam Gambhir (c),Jacques Kallis, Brendon McCullum (wk), Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwary, Manvinder Bisla/Debabrata Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Rajat Bhatia,  Sunil Narine, Iqbal Abdulla, Lakshmipathy Balaji.

PREVIEW OF THE 72ND MATCH OF IPL 2012: RAJASTHAN ROYALS Vs MUMBAI INDIANS- MAY 20, 2012

This is the last match of IPL 2012 before the qualifying round begins and this match will also put an end to all the discussion about the selection of the third and fourth teams in the playoffs. This is no more a vital match for both the teams- Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians because Rajasthan is already out of the playoffs as they have lost their last match against Deccan. The match will be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur from 8.00 PM onwards.
There is almost no chance to be in the playoffs for Rajasthan Royals because after losing their last match against Deccan in their last match, the team needs to win this last match for pride before ending this IPL 2012 campaign. However, if they win the last match, then this team could have competed with Bangalore and Punjab for the playoffs. So now when there is no way to be in the playoffs, Rajasthan will mainly focus on their performance today to defeat their rival which is one of the strongest team in this season.
Mumbai Indians on the other side are still in the third position in the tally table but their position in the playoffs is not yet confirmed because in their last match against Kolkata, they have lost the match. So Mumbai is looking towards this match to bag a win to confirm their position. If Mumbai can win this match, then there will be no other competitors for the third position. After playing impressive innings throughout this tournament, Mumbai is a much deserved team in the playoffs and so Captain Harbhajan along with his team mates are ready to knock out Rajasthan in this match. In their last match, the batting and fielding of Mumbai was extremely disappointing which they have to improve in today’s match to sustain in this tournament.
This last match of this IPL is an extremely exciting and breathtaking when both the teams are running towards the same goal- playoffs. So this Sunday evening will turn out to be a fabulous one for the IPL viewers.
Probable XIs for Rajasthan Royals: Rahul Dravid(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Dishant Yagnik(w), Ashok Menaria, Shane Watson, Johan Botha, Brad Hodge, Siddharth Trivedi, Shaun Tait, Stuart Binny, Pankaj Singh.
Probable XIs for Mumbai Indians: Harbhajan Singh (c), Herschelle Gibbs,Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma,  Ambati Rayudu,Dinesh Karthik (wk), Dwayne Smith, Lasith Malinga,   Munaf Patel,Kieron Pollard,  Pragyan Ojha.

PREVIEW: DECCAN CHARGERS V ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE ON MAY 20, 2012

May 20, 2012 is the last day for regular matches before the qualifying rounds in IPL 2012. There are two matches today and both the matches are very challenging for the participating teams as these matches will decide their position in the playoffs. The first match of the day is between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore which will be played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad and this game will commence at 4.00 PM sharp.
After losing all the matches in this IPL barring two against Pune and one against Rajasthan in their last game, Deccan Chargers will play their last match today when they are already knocked out of the playoffs. There is no importance of these matches for Deccan apart from playing these games for pride. Stuck at the bottom position in the tally table, this game will end their IPL 2012 campaign. Although the team has failed to get much success in this tournament, Cameron White has been outstanding throughout this series with his impressive batting and at times Dhawan provided a good support to him.
When this game is just a match for Deccan, it is a vital match for Royal Challengers Bangalore because this match will decide whether they will continue in this IPL 2012 campaign or not. Chennai has completed all their matches and are at 17 points. So Bangalore has the highest possibility to get into the playoffs with 19 points if they get a win today in this day/night match. There are other competitors and the result of the second match of the day will also affect Bangalore’s position in the playoffs if Rajasthan wins by defeating Mumbai. However, keeping all these factors aside, Bangalore is fully concentrating on this match to keep up their IPL campaign this year.
While Bangalore is looking for a victory in this match, Deccan Chargers fans are eager to see a fabulous innings by their favorite team before the IPL campaign for this season ends up. Deccan home ground is fully prepared to cheer their team but Bangalore; riding on a winning stream is a favorable team in this match.
Probable players for Deccan Chargers: Kumar Sangakkara (c), D Christian, Cameron White, Shikhar Dhawan, Parthiv Patel (wk), Ashish Reddy, Abhishek Jhunjunwala, Akshath Reddy, Juan Theron, Amit Mishra, Veer Pratap Singh.
Probable players for Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chris Gayle, Vinay Kumar, Mayank Agarwal,  Saurabh Tiwary, KP Appanna, Muttiah Muralitharan, Zaheer Khan, Harshal Patel.

MATCH PREVIEW: PUNE WARRIORS INDIA Vs KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS ON MAY 19, 2012

After an overwhelming atmosphere of excitement, sentiments and emotional issues, the first match between Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders was played in Kolkata on May 5. Today, on May 19, 2012, Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune will host the second match between these two teams. This match is the second game of the day which will commence at 8.00 PM sharp.

Whether Pune Warriors wins or loses i this match, it will hardly make any difference to the fate of this team in this IPL campaign because an array of defeats for Pune has already knocked this team out of the playoffs. This is just a pre-scheduled match for the team where they will play just for pride. Moreover the name of this team has come up in match fixing issue as one of their players; Mohnish Mishra is involved in this scandal and has been suspended. On the other hand, when there is no prospect for this team in this tournament, some of their foreign players have already set off for their country.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders has also secured their position in the IPL 2012 semi-finals. So there is no such importance in this match and Gambhir may drop some of his best players for this match because they are concentrating on the semi-final match at the moment. However, one more win in this match can secure their second position or can also give them the table topper rank in the DLF IPL Standings 2012 if Delhi loses their last game against Punjab in the first match of the day.

Although this is the last match for both the teams in this IPL before the playoffs, there is no such hype or tension surrounding this match like the other matches that are going on at this stage of this IPL because the fate of both the teams are already determined. With no such beneficial outcome in the match, Pune ground is still ready to enjoy this match with full enthusiasm as they are eyeing for revenge.

PREVIEW: KINGS XI PUNJAB V DELHI DAREDEVILS- MAY 19, 2012

While one team is now relaxing and preparing for the playoffs, the other team is still struggling to make a place in the playoffs and these two contrasting teams- Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils will play against each other on May 19, 2012 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium, Dharamsala. The match will commence at 4.00 PM IST. This is the last match for both the teams and for Kings XI Punjab; this is the last ray of hope to get qualified in the playoffs.

Only Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders have secured their positions in the playoffs while two teams- Deccan Chargers and Pune Warriors India are out of the playoffs. Moreover Chennai has also lost their last match and now Bangalore, Punjab and Rajasthan are competing in this campaign for playoffs. After defeating Chennai Super Kings in their last match on May 17, Punjab has given a boost to their struggle for playoffs. So this match tonight is the last ray of hope for the team to be in the qualifying round. In their last match, Adam Gilchrist was back after his ailment and gave an outstanding performance in bat while Awana was superb while bowling. This win against Delhi will obviously bring their points to 18 but then their fate will be decided on the basis of the performance of Bangalore and Rajasthan. NRR will also play a vital role for selection in the playoffs.

On the other hand, Delhi is now focusing and preparing for the playoffs only. This is the last match for Delhi and is just a pre-scheduled match for them because the result of this match will not affect their position in the playoffs. Some of the best players of Delhi have been dropped to allow the irregular players to practice in these matches whereas the best performers will have a break before making an impressive performance in the semi-final. In the last match also, Delhi boys played in a relaxed mood against Bangalore. So when Punjab will play with its best team tonight, Delhi will depend on their irregular players.
At this phase, there is a lot of pressure for Punjab and so the match is solely for them. Moreover, the home ground is also a factor to make this team, the favorable one in today’s match.

Probable XIs for Kings XI Punjab: Adam Gilchrist (C & wk), David Hussey, Mandeep Singh, Azhar Mahmood, Nitin Saini, David Miller, Piyush Chawla, Gurkeerat Singh, Praveen Kumar,  Ryan Harris, Parvinder Awana.

Probable XIs for Delhi Daredevils: Mahela Jayawardene(C), Unmukt Chand, David Warner, Venugopal Rao, Ross Taylor, Naman Ojha (wk), Andre Russell, Pawan Negi,   Umesh Yadav,Irfan Pathan, Varun Aaron.

PREVIEW: DECCAN CHARGERS V RAJASTHAN ROYALS- MAY 18, 2012

This is the 68th match of this IPL 2012 where Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals will play against each other at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad. The match will commence at 8.00 PM IST. While this is a very important match for Rajasthan Royals to seek an entry into the playoffs, this is just a pre-scheduled match for Deccan Chargers who are already out of the playoffs.

This is a penultimate match for Deccan Chargers who are at the bottom of the Points table with only 5 points in hand. Deccan with its severely poor performance in this IPL will only look for a win in this match because that will gather a little pride for the team before leaving this IPL campaign.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals squad is struggling to get two successive wins in their upcoming two matches to fulfil their fragile dream to be in the qualifying rounds although their fate is also dependent on Royal Challengers Bangalore’s performance because yesterday Bangalore defeated Delhi and now only one win is needed for them to get into the playoffs. Chennai is almost out of the playoffs after they were defeated by Punjab yesterday. If Dravid’s team succeeds in winning these two matches, the team will end up with 18 points to compete with table topper teams but then the NRR will be considered. So Dravid will try to add another feather to their success at the home ground of Deccan with his best team players. Although, Deccan is at the bottom of the playoffs, in their last one or two matches, they have proved their efficiency by chasing challenging scores. So Rajasthan team has to be very consistent in the field tonight to take over Deccan and to smoothen their way towards playoffs.

This will turn out to be an exciting match because there will be full effort from Rajasthan side as they have lost some matches marginally. Those wins could have placed this talented team in the playoffs quite easily. So keep your eyes on SET MAX to enjoy live telecast of this match from 7.00 PM onwards.

Probable squad for Deccan Chargers: Kumar Sangakkara (c), D Christian, Cameron White, Shikhar Dhawan, Parthiv Patel (wk), Ashish Reddy, Abhishek Jhunjunwala, Akshath Reddy, Juan Theron, Amit Mishra, Veer Pratap Singh.

Probable squad for Rajasthan Royals: Rahul Dravid(c), Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Menaria, Johan Botha, Dishant Yagnik(w), Brad Hodge, Stuart Binny, Siddharth Trivedi, Shaun Tait, Pankaj Singh.

MATCH PREVIEW: MUMBAI INDIANS V KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS- MAY 16, 2012

At this stage of 2012 IPL when all the seven teams are looking for the playoffs, the competition is very tough. To give a new stunt to this tournament, another such breathtaking and exciting match is waiting tonight which will be played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The match has been scheduled at 8.00 PM IST.

Although Mumbai literally huffed and puffed to get victories during the initial stage of this IPL but as the tournament progressed, the team started proving their efficiency after having little changes. In their last two matches, they bagged impressive triumphs against Bangalore and Kolkata which have paved their way to the second position in the DLF IPL Standings 2012 and have also strengthen their position in the playoffs. Inclusion of Herschelle Gibbs has appeared as a lucky champ for this team because he has done great job in both the matches played. Apart from Gibbs, another Mumbai player who has been the center of attraction of this team is Pollard. He has been outstanding in batting, bowling and fielding. His magnificent action in the field has really given an awesome hit to the team’s success. Mumbai is in full swing at the moment and is looking for another win tonight to be in No. 1 rank and if this team consistency sustains till the end of this IPL, Mumbai is not very far from the much coveted IPL championship title.

At this moment, Kolkata is in a wobbling position and are looking for a win tonight to strengthen their position in the playoffs and also to take revenge for the Eden match against Mumbai held on May 12. So compared to their opponent, this match is more important for Kolkata. Moreover when the outcome shifts a little from the expected trend, the situation seems to be more thrilling and that is what is happening with Kolkata. Giving a mind blowing performance in most of the matches in this IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders moved up to the table topper position and then suddenly they started losing matches in a disappointing manner. These successive losses in the last two matches against Mumbai and Chennai have pushed Kolkata in the 3rd position and today’s game will decide whether Gambhir’s team will add colors to the playoffs or will be pushed out of IPL 2012. The main thing to worry about this team is the middle order batting. Apart from the openers- McCullum and Captain Gambhir, only Kallis and Tiwary succeed in adding some runs to the team total and that too occasionally. So if the team does not change this trend tonight and if the entire batting line up does not contribute, then it is seriously a matter to worry for Kolkata because they are well aware that Mumbai is a very strong rival to defy.

Obviously the respective supporters are praying and supporting their teams whole heartedly but in this match, Mumbai is in a favorable position- firstly, for their superb performance level and rank and secondly, the venue is their home ground. But for final results, we still have to wait for another few hours till the last ball of the match is hit.

Probable squad for Mumbai Indians: Harbhajan Singh (c), Sachin Tendulkar, Herschelle Gibbs,  Rohit Sharma,  Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Dwayne Smith,   Lasith Malinga,  Munaf Patel, RP Singh.

Probable squad for Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir (c),  Jacques Kallis, Brendon McCullum (wk), Manoj Tiwary,  Debabrata Das, Yusuf Pathan, Laxmi Shukla,  Lakshmipathy Balaji,Rajat Bhatia, Marchant de Lange, Sunil Narine.

PREVIEW: DELHI DAREDEVILS V ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE, MAY 17, 2012

This is the second match of the day where table topper Delhi Daredevils will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore who is presently in the fifth position in the tally table. The match will be played at the home ground of table topper team at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi and it will start at 8.00 PM. This is a very important match for Bangalore because this match can decide the fate of the team in this IPL- a win can lead their way to the qualifying round whereas a loss can knock them out of the playoffs.

Securing their table topper position and their position in the playoffs by playing only 14 matches so far, this match is just a pre-scheduled match for Delhi Daredevils. Among 14 matches played so far, Shewag’s boys have won 10 matches and this season, the team is in an outstanding form to win the much desired title. As there is no such pressure over the team tonight, there is a possibility that Shewag may put down some of his best team mates for this match so that they can have a break before the upcoming important matches in the playoffs. However, as Delhi is in a secured position in the playoffs, the team may not take this match too seriously but Bangalore is a strong opponent for Delhi because in their last match, a month ago, Bangalore defeated Delhi by 20 runs.

This is the penultimate match for Royal Challengers Bangalore before the playoffs and two wins in these two remaining matches can ensure their position in the playoffs. In this season, Bangalore has been in a fabulous form although in their last match against Mumbai Indians, they ended up with a loss which pushed them a bit away from the playoffs. So these two remaining matches are very important for this team. Moreover, the outcome of the first match of the day will also decide upon Bangalore’s date for playoffs. This team has one of the strongest and efficient batting and bowling order. Chris Gayle from Bangalore is the top scorer in this season and his incredible innings tonight can again bring a win for his team. Dilshan and Villers also contribute a lot to the team score whereas Appanna, Zaheer Khan and Muralitharan are fabulous bowlers for this team to show magic with the rival’s wickets. When Shewag will drop some of his efficient players for the day, Kohli will play with his best team to fulfil the dream of being into the playoffs.

Another exciting match to watch tonight when there is a match between Shewag and Gayle- two orange capped. When the match is crucial for Bangalore, the Delhi crowd is ready to enjoy an outstanding innings from Shewag or Gayle or both.

Probable players for Delhi Daredevils: Virender Sehwag (c), David Warner, Mahela Jayawardene,  Naman Ojha (wk), Ross Taylor, Venugopal Rao, Pawan Negi, Morne Morkel, Irfan Pathan, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron.

Probable players for Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (c), Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers (wk), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mayank Agarwal,  Vinay Kumar, Saurabh Tiwary, Zaheer Khan, KP Appanna, Harshal Patel, Muttiah Muralitharan.

PREVIEW OF 66TH MATCH OF IPL 2012: KINGS XI PUNJAB Vs CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

When IPL 2012 is in its last legs, there is pressure over every team to win the coveted championship title and so the entire IPL atmosphere is filled with tension and excitement. In this tough situation, on May 17, 2012, Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings are confronting each other in the first match of the day which will be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium, Dharamsala. The match will commence at 4.00 PM sharp.

After losing their last match against table topper Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab is now under serious pressure because one more loss will knock them out of this IPL. Two matches are still remaining for Punjab and they have to win all these matches to be in the playoffs. So this match is very crucial for them and this match will decide the future of both the teams in this IPL. Chennai is a tough opponent for Punjab because the team is lacking a good batting order to compete against Chennai. The opening partnership between Shaun Marsh and Mandeep Singh has been supported nicely by Azhar Mahmood and David Miller but the rest of the players have failed to contribute in the batting line. Moreover, last match’s defeat has affected the team spirit to some extent and with the same level of performance in the field; it is a bit difficult for Punjab to bounce back. The bowlers on the other hand have done a decent job on that match and restricted the Delhi squad as much as possible. They need to show the same performance in the field today to pave the way for their team’s win.

After getting successive wins in their last few matches, Chennai Super Kings is in full swing to bag another victory in this match to confirm their position in the playoffs. This is the last match for Chennai before the playoffs and this win can only lead them to the playoffs. So when their rival is looking for 2 of 2 wins, Chennai is looking for 1 of 1 win. To tackle such a tough situation, the only thing that could save a team is a challenging score and for that Chennai will be there in the field with 9 batsmen today. In their last match against Kolkata, the win was marginal because the team got their much desired win from the last ball when Bravo hit the marvelous six. At that moment Chennai needed 5 runs from the last ball of the match and such is a situation is quite tough for any batsman to handle. This time Chennai is ready with 9 batsmen so that they need not have to worry much for a good score.

Both the teams are dependent on this match to reframe their future in IPL 2012 and so this match will obviously be an exciting game to watch. This match will decide one position in the playoffs. So don’t miss it!

Probable squad for Kings XI Punjab: David Hussey (c), Shaun Marsh, Mandeep Singh, Azhar Mahmood, Nitin Saini (wk), David Miller, Piyush Chawla, Gurkeerat Singh, Praveen Kumar,  Harmeet Singh, Parvinder Awana.

Probable squad for Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Michael Hussey, Faf du Plessis, Murali Vijay,  Suresh Raina,  Dwayne Bravo, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Ben Hilfenhaus, Srikkanth Anirudha, Shadab Jakati.

PREVIEW: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ON MAY 14, 2012

As the playoffs of the fifth session of IPL are nearing, the contest is getting more tough and exciting with every match having its respective importance. The second match on May 14, 2012 is between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings which will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata from 8.00 PM IST. This is a very important match for Chennai to get qualified for the semi-finals whereas Kolkata is looking for this match to get back their table topper position.

After experiencing a disappointing loss against Mumbai Indians in their last match, Kolkata Knight Riders is looking for a victory in this match to seal their position in the playoffs as well as to be back in the table topper position. What is most important for KKR is to boost up their middle order batting. It is the only thing that has been worrying this team throughout this season. In their last match, quick fall of the wickets of four main batsmen- Bisla, Gambhir, McCullum and Kallis has taken a toll on the team’s success. The middle order batsmen, Pathan, Tiwary and Das had again failed to take the responsibility. The Kolkata bowlers have proved to be quite remarkable throughout the innings but on the other night, it was quite difficult for them to interrupt the marvelous partnership between Gibbs and Sharma. So apart from the middle order, the team is quite efficient to get a win tonight because Chennai’s batting is in a wobbling condition throughout the tournament but their bowling is excellent to push their opponent to a corner.

After defeating Delhi Daredevils in their last match, Chennai is in full swing to get another victory tonight to be in a safe side for the playoffs. However, if they fail to bag this win tonight, it will put an end to their IPL 2012 campaign. In their batting side, apart from Hussey, Raina, Vijay and Dhoni, there are not any efficient batsmen to pull up the team score. But for these batsmen, Kolkata bowlers are really a threat because Narine, Shakib and other bowlers are really doing excellently throughout this IPL. So today’s match is mostly a match between Kolkata bowlers and Chennai batsmen. While Kolkata bowlers are in an outstanding form, there is no doubt about the efficiency of Chennai bowlers because throughout the season, Chennai has won most of their matches depending on their superb bowlers.

So when Kolkata is eyeing for a victory to bounce back in their winning stream, Chennai is struggling to sustain in this IPL by bagging a win tonight. When the situation is so tough and breathtaking, the match will obviously turn out to be an impressive one.

Probable Kolkata Knight Riders squad: Gautam Gambhir (c), Jacques Kallis, Brendon McCullum, Manvinder Bisla (wk),  Manoj Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan, Debabrata Das, Brett Lee, Rajat Bhatia, Sunil Narine.

Probable Chennai Super Kings squad: MS Dhoni (wk/c), Michael Hussey, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Albie Morkel,  Ravichandran Ashwin, Shadab Jakati, Srikkanth Anirudha, Ben Hilfenhaus.
