Whenever an average restaurant enjoys the
benefit of a prime location, business runs soundly. This is what has happened
with Foods, located just opposite
Padmasree Cinema in Garia on the main road. Movie viewers at Padmasree Cinema
are primary customers at Foods and on weekends, this small take-away center does
brisk business.
Offering both Chinese and North Indian
delicacies, Foods provide wholesome meal at very reasonable rates – a site
common in this part of town. With no seating arrangements (barring a few
plastic stools placed on the footpath – not a capital proposition), hot selling
items here include momo’s, fish fry, fish kabiraji and chicken pakora. Generally
sold in the evening, their fish fry and fish kabiraj are really worth mentioning.
Be there after 8 PM and you will be told that these items are all sold out.
Unlike their fish fry or kabiraji,
the momos lack in heavy chicken stuffing. For my main, I tried the Chicken
Biriyani accompanied with Chicken Butter Masala and Chicken Bharta. The biriyani
was well prepared but the chicken preparations were too oily. However, both the
chicken preparations had a generous dose of chicken in them. The only thing
that is needed is to make the food here less oily.
The service is quite prompt and the rates
are budget-friendly. So, with a bit of tweaking, this place could become more
popular among its customers.
