All you need to satisfy your hunger is there at Kanha

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

If you are used to places like Gupta Brothers or Haldirams in Kolkata, then Kanha will be absolutely a familiar place to you when you are in the Pink City of our country.  A perfect place to feed your hunger with a lot of varieties starting from chatpati snacks to heavy main courses and sweet desserts, Kanha is a perfect place for all foodies who love to gorge into various delicacies while being economical. Even if you simply want to quench your thirst while giving a tinge of heavenly flavors to your taste buds, Kanha is ready to provide your glasses of amazing mocktails, shakes or other refreshing beverages.

Now the question is - why am I comparing this place with Haldirams or Gupta Brothers? Firstly, the ambience and décor. Without exaggerating the décor, the entire area (both floors) is arranged with plenty of simple dining tables and chairs made from steel and MDF. Spacious and elegantly decorated with contemporary decorative pieces, diners need to do self service from the counter of their choice. Secondly, the food items and quality almost resembles what we are used to in Kolkata at Haldiram’s. So, while I was roaming around inside Kanha, I had a strong feeling that Kanha resembles Haldiram Food City at Ballygunj very much.

The snack, sweet and dessert counters are on the ground floor with a lot of tall height tables for diners who need to stand and swallow their food hurriedly before going back to work. However, for toursits like us who needed to sit and relish North Indian, South Indian, chatpati chaats or pav bhaji, the 1st floor was a better option.

We ordered the North Indian Special Thali, Chinese platter (Chowmein, Fried Rice, Chilli Paneer and Veg Manchurian) and Masala Dosa in our main course, and for appetizers we went in for Mango Tango, Blue Lagoon, Aaloo Tikki and Papri Chaat. As I have mentioned earlier, the items here are very similar to Haldirams’, even in flavour. We gorged on our respective preferences and relished every item till the very end.  With a full stomach, we left the place satisfied, happy with the ambience, food quality, hygiene factor as well as the price. However, as we were really full, we could not satiate our taste buds with the sweetmeats or other desserts peeping through their glass showcases.
