Reaching to this 41st match of this IPL, Chennai Super Kings and
Kolkata Knight Riders are confronting each other for the first time in this
tournament on April 30, 2012 at MA Chidambaram Stadium,
Chennai. The match will start at 8.00 PM IST. This is the 10th match
for both the teams in this league. This match will turn out as a super
thrilling match because Kolkata Knight Riders is in full form to get over
Chennai Super Kings who has lost their last match against Kings XI Punjab,
whereas Chennai will look for a victory to bounce back.
In their last match against
Punjab team, Chennai faced disappointing defeat and throughout the entire match,
it was clear that there was a lack of spirit among the Chennai players. The team
was unable to take the pressure of the attacking Punjab team and failed to
chase an average score of only 156. The bowling squad did quite a great job to
restrict the opponent within an average score in Twenty20 match but the batting
order collapsed totally while chasing this score. Throughout this IPL, Dhoni
has failed to prove himself and so far, he has scored only 132 from eight
matches. If today, the team looks for a victory, they have to improve their
performance in a field to tackle the Knight team.
Occupying the second
position in the points table, Kolkata team is looking for another victory to
increase the NRR and to retain their position just after the table topper Delhi
Daredevils. Out of the nine matches played so far, they have bagged five victories
with almost every player giving a great performance. On the contrary to Dhoni’s
performance, Gambhir has been spectacular throughout the league along with
Kallis. Balaji, Shukla and Lee are spectacular in the field while attacking the
opponent. In today’s match, Kolkata is in a favorable position and if they can
come up with another challenging total like last match, the team is surely to
get a success. In this tournament so far, the team has succeeded in proving
their theme song, “Korbo, lorbo, jeetbo re…”
