Preview: 2nd Women’s Singles Quarter Final Match in Wimbledon 2012

As the fourth round of Women’s Singles has come up with the quarter finalists, July 3, 2012 will host three of the four quarter final matches in this category. While the first match is set between Agnieszka Radwanska and Maria Kirilenko; in the second match, Serena Williams and Petra Kvitova are ready to battle for a spot in the semi final. The second match will start at 11.10 PM.

Fourth seeded, Petra Kvitova ended her fourth round in this tournament with an impressive win against World No. 24 Francesca Schiavone. Losing the first game of the match, Kvitova finally managed to get a win against her opponent in 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 score line. This has made her to book a spot in the next round against sixth seeded Serena Williams who has qualified as a quarterfinalist after knocking down unseeded Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova in 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 set.

Czech tennis professional Petra Kvitova has ended her last two Grand Slam campaigns in the semi-final round and this is the third opportunity in the same year to win her second Grand Slam. Although this year has given her mixed results, but last year was the best year in her tennis career when she won her maiden Grand Slam title in this grass court. She has already proved her ability when she easily took the challenge of outsmarting top notch tennis players like Azarenka, Radwanska, Lisicki and Paszek in earlier encounters. But this time she is in front of legendary tennis star, Serena Williams who is well experienced in all types of courts. This is a very crucial match for her to prove her ability because there is rarely any tennis star who has taken over Serena Williams quite easily so far in Wimbledon. Her campaign in this tournament so far has been impressive but now this is the time for her to end a totally flawless.

Facing four times Wimbledon champion Serena Williams is a threat for any opponent and when she declares that she is quite fresh and relaxed to face the upcoming match, this creates more pressure for Kvitova. With her magnificent strokes, she has always been dominant in the court but in French open 2012, she has surprisingly dumped down in the first round and left the tournament. So this time she is in full form and confidence to end this tournament with a prestigious position if not her fifth Wimbledon championship title. Now her main focus is on Petra Kvitova who is the winner of last year Wimbledon. This match will surely be a superb match to watch when two former Wimbledon Champions will battle for fixing a spot in the next round.
