Preview: 1st Men’s Doubles Semi Final Match in Wimbledon 2012


The semi final matches are going around in full fledge on the grass court in Wimbledon 2012 and now the court is ready for the two semi final matches in Men’s Doubles round. The first match is between Bryan brothers and Frederik Nielsen-Jonathan Marray. After ousting the unseeded American tandem, Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram in the quarter final in 5-7, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, the compatriots Bryan brothers, Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan made their way to the semi final to set a match against the British-Danish duo, Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen. This British-Danish duo has made their way to the semi final after defeating James Cerretani and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the quarter final in 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (3-7), 2-6, 6-2.

Jonathan Marray is the first British tennis star to be in the Wimbledon semi final in doubles category after Mark Cox in 1977. He along with his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen has made all his way to this semi final for the first time after 1977. So it is not only a pleasure for his nation but also a ray of hope to become a Grand Slam doubles champion. This tandem has been playing since last three tournaments and is superb on the court for their superb co-ordination and mutual consistency. After entering this tournament as a wild card contestant, this pair has continued till this stage just riding on their hard work. In this journey, apart from getting a straight set win in the second round against Frank Moser and Ivo Karlovic, they have always called for a win after playing five sets matches. Now after struggling against a number of unseeded opponents, this duo is finally in front of the top rated Bryan brothers who are the favorable in this match and also in this tournament.

The second placed American twins lost their last Grand Slam at Roland Garros this summer and after losing that much coveted crown, they are eyeing on the crown on this grass court. In their run to this round, they took 2 hours and 46 minutes to prevail over their American opponentin the quarter final round. The struggle was not so easy for the winning duo because their rival, although unseeded, played impressively to upset the Bryan brothers. Although this Bryan tandem is the most successful doubles partner but they are well aware of the upcoming challenge from Marray-Nielsen who are ready to throw a tough challenge to make their maiden appearance in the Wimbledon final.
