Preview: Russia v Czech Republic in UEFA EURO 2012

The second match of the day after a grand and colorful opening ceremony followed by the first match between Greece and Poland will be held in Municipal Stadium, Wroclaw between Russia and Czech Republic. Both the teams are from Group A and when this Group is considered as the weakest one in this tournament, Russia is the most confident one in this group. The match will commence at 19.45 UK time.

In the recent matches, Russia has proved their dominance by winning 14 matches in a row and in the last preparation match; they defeated Italy by 3-0. With no injury problems in the squad, the team is back in this tournament with almost the same combination which was seen four years ago. In Euro 2008, Russia left the tournament from the semi-final and so this time they are looking forward to be the champion. Although, the team is back with almost the same players but Coach Dick Advocaat know that his team is lacking earlier form. So, he is focusing on hard work to see his team under spot light.

On the other side, Czech Republic is ready to regain their position like 1996 and 2004 because they have been pushed back to 24 position in FIFA world ranking due to their out of form performance. With a good combination of players including Petr Cech, Tomas Rosicky and some yound players, the team is optimistic to get into the qualifying round. There is enough talent in this team to be one of the leading teams but they always lack in consistency to prove their potential.

In today’s match, Russia is the favorable one and will try to create their dominance over their opponent but Czech Republic must give a hard effort to turn the match in their favor.
