Preview: Portugal Vs Netherlands in Euro 2012

Stepping in to the last round of group stage match, Group B members- Portugal and Netherlands will meet each other at Metalist Stadium, Kharkiv on June 17, 2012 at 18.45 hours GMT. In this match Portugal is in a better condition after getting a win in their last match whereas, Netherlands has not yet flavoured the winning taste in this tournament. With 3 points in hand, Portugal needs to get another victory to get into the next phase. However with null point in hand, Netherlands has almost ended their campaign in this tournament unless some surprising incident happens on the day.

After losing their first match against Germany, Portugal bounced back in the following match against Denmark with 3-2 score line. This win has earned them 3 points but Denmark is also in the run for quarterfinal with 3 points. So in this match, Portugal needs to outsmart Netherlands with a huge goal difference to ensure their position in the next round. However, a draw or a loss can also take them through if Denmark loses the other match of the day against Germany. Although Portugal managed to get a win in their last match but from Portuguese side, the match was not impressive. After making a two goal lead, they allowed Denmark to make an impressive comeback. Captain Cristiano Ronaldo was a bit responsible for this as he missed a couple of golden opportunities. So for this crucial match, Coach Paulo Bento is looking forward to reform his squad in a better way to make their way into the qualifying round.

Netherlands, after getting ousted by Denmark and Portugal respectively in the initial two group stage matches of Euro 2012, has almost made their way for a group stage exit. This team entered the tournament in a superb form but as the campaign started, they became derailed. Moreover, the team manager faced a big debate on putting down two important strikers, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Rafael Van der Vaart. So Coach Bert Van Marwjik assured that his team will do everything in the match to get a position in the next round, although which is very hard to achieve.
Bookies like Bet365 and Betfred are offering 9/4 and Paddy Power and William Hills are offering 12/5 and 11/5 respectively for a draw match and for Portuguese win, William Hills and Bet365 are offering 7/4 and Betfred and Paddy Power are offering 9/5 and 15/8 respectively.
