Euro 2012: Spain Vs Republic of Ireland - Group Stage Match on June 14, 2012
Group
C in Euro 2012 has the World Champion Spain who is about to play the second
round group stage match of this tournament against their group member, Republic of Ireland. This match will be played at PGE Arena, Gdansk on June 14, 2012
which will commence at 20.45 CET. This is the second match of the day which
will almost decide the fate of the Group C teams in this tournament.
Ending the last match against Croatia in
1-3 loss, Irish squad has set up a crucial situation for themselves. So in this
match a victory is much deserved from this team to perk up their position in
the final eight. Even if they can't call for a victory, a draw is very
necessary for them to keep their Euro 2012 campaign alive. But a draw can bring
a ray of hope for this only if Italy succeeds in ousting Croatia in the
previous match of the day. After resuming in international tournament after a
long time, Ireland is looking for a striking performance in this tournament but
their first day's loss has left them in a dark corner. Compared to their
previous opponent, Spain is a comparatively stronger rival and so to seek a win
in this match, the Irish eleven have to be very consistent in the field, both
in attack and defense. Moreover, their injury worry is another matter which is
affecting the team spirit. Strikers like Shay Given, Darron Gibson were out of
the team because of injury problems but now they are ready to be in the field
along with Shane Long, as reported by Coach Giovanni Trapattoni. But again,
Richard Dunne will again miss this game after he was injured in the previous
match.
On the other side, Spanish Coach Vicente del Bosque is already under serious
debate because of his decision of putting down a extremely in-form striker from
the first match which Spain ended with a draw against Italy and this draw may
take a toll on the team's path of success. Cesc Fabregas is likely to get into
the final eleven in place of Fernando Torres who has got a thigh injury on the
other day. Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Negredo need to be more instrumental so
that they don't repeat the same inconsistency in the field like the other day.
Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos will maintain their co-ordination in the defense.
Ireland is not a very strong opponent for Spain but inclusion of some great
strikers in the Irish squad may upset Spain through the ninety minutes.
Spain is obviously the favorite in this match but the outcome may change at any
time. Some of the bookies like Bet365, Skybet and Bwin are offering 5 for a
draw match while BetFred and 32Red are offering 9/2 and 24/5 respectively for a
draw score line. To celebrate Spanish victory, Bet365, Skybet and 32Red are
offering 1/4 and the other two- BedFred is offering 2/7 and Bwin is offering
3/13. For Irish win, Bet365, Skybet, BetFred, 32Red and Bwin are offering 12,
10, 11, 10, 23/2 odds.
