The 1st semi final match of ICC T20 World Cup
2012 is going on today between two Asian nations: Sri Lanka and Pakistan and
the next semi final match is on October 5, 2012 between Australia and West
Indies. The same R Premadasa
Stadium, Colombo will host both the semi finals and the second one will
start at 7.00 PM local and 1.30 PM GMT.
Barring the last match against Pakistan in the Super Eights
of this edition of this tournament, Australia is the most unbeaten team in this
tournament’s history. Till 2012, the Aussies have recorded some classic events
in T20 World Cup. This year, this team has got their best all rounder, Shane
Watson, whose total score in this tournament is 242 at 154% strike rate which
is magnificent for T20 matches. Moreover, he has already taken 11 wickets from
the last five matches. Captain and skipper George Bailey has succeeded to give
an outstanding captaincy to this team because even after losing the last match
against Pakistan, the NRR of the team remained +0.464.
The main focus in the Caribbean side is Chris Gayle. Similar
to the pride for Shane Watson in the Kangaroo side, West Indies is also proud
and dependable on Chris Gayle, a man with an outstanding strike rate of 158%
scored from four matches in this tournament. His total run in these 4 matches
is 144. So when these two teams will lock horns tomorrow in Colombo, the battle
will mainly be between Chris Gayle and Shane Watson. It is a matter of threat
to any opponent team whenever Gayle starts with his ferocious and explosive power
hitting and if in tomorrow’s match, Gayle remains successful in changing the
nature of the game with his power shots, then it will be difficult for
Australia to work out with their dream of entering into the final.
However Australia has better winning records than the Caribbean and so it is
expected that Australia will dominate the Premadasa cricket ground tomorrow.
But since it is a Twenty20 match, the match can change its side at any time to push
any of the team to the next round while knocking out the other from the
tournament.
So it is obviously better to watch a T20 cricket match with
less prediction and more excitement. When it is difficult to guess who will
enjoy the finalist title, the bookies like Bet365, Sportingbet, Paddy Power and
William Hill are offering 4/6 while others like SkyBET, BetFred, BetVictor,
BlueSQ, 888sport and Coral are offering 8/11 for Aussie’s win. On the other hand,
for West Indies’ win, most bookies like SkyBET, BetFred, BetVictor, BlueSQ,
888sport and Coral are offering 11/10 while others like Sportingbet and 188Bet
are offering 13/10.
