The Amazing Spiderman 3D – Review

“With great power comes great responsibility”. These were the words of advice for young Peter Parker by his Uncle Ben. After looking at the Marc Webb’s latest flick, The Amazing Spiderman 3D, we understand that he too have the same advice in mind. The expectations that were already set by Toby Maguire as Spiderman and Sam Raimi as the director of the previous Spiderman trilogy had to be reached, if not exceeded. Let us not even compare. Let’s try to find out whether the duo of Andrew Garfield as the new Spiderman and Mark Webb excel in terms of the hype that was created for promotion of the movie.

She doesn’t think twice to land a punch or two towards the bad guys.

Next comes Dr. Curt (Jekyll) Connors, a character played by Rhys Ifans. He shares an equal screen presence with the Spiderman and his alter-ego Peter Parker.

Andrew Garfield fits perfectly in the Spidey-suit and also brings out the helplessness of his alter-ego Peter Parker. This time though, Peter Parker has a comic touch to his character.

Madagascar 3 Review

One thing can be said for sure, Madagascar 3 has become more than a movie on the silver screen. Like all the previous Madagascar movies, this time also they tell us something more. The name Madagascar has become a brand and a franchise. People from every age relate themselves with the movie. It is amazing to see the effect of the movie on everyone. The movie brings tears to the eye of any kid which is remarkable. In today’s world of graphics and animation, Madagascar is the Holy Grail.
Like every movie franchise, Madagascar has also had it share of bad days. But it seems that all is over now with the release of Madagascar 3. With their latest venture, it seems that DreamWorks have tied all loose ends to produce a star, forgetting all about their last disaster. There is nothing missing in the movie – excellent movie, great effects, hilarious jokes and the bonus – our animals have finally arrived in the city. The third edition finds Alex, Marty, Gloria and Mellman (lion, zebra, hippo and giraffe respectively) lost in Europe. They take the helps of some circus animals to return to the Central Park Zoo. There is a lot of (mis)adventure with all the animals being forced to become members of the Zaragosa (name of the circus)!
We will also see a lot of penguins, the great King Julien XIII and his associates and a handful of ever-irritating monkeys. Vitaly (tiger), Gia (jaguar), Stefano (sea-lion), a gang of rogue Yorkshire terriers and police Chief Cpt. Chantel Dubois are the new characters added to this edition of Madagascar.
The animals are as spontaneous as ever. An interesting fact is that they are more human like in this edition. The humor well is spread making it a movie not so much for children only. The one-liners are hard-hitting and references to the pop-culture may not be pleasing to everyone. Children will find it difficult to relate to some scenes and jokes because of the maturity. However, this is good as they will find something new to discover when they sit to watch this movie year’s later.
If indeed Madagascar 3 is the last movie of the franchise, it is bad news for the Madagascar fans. If indeed Madagascar 3 is the last movie of the franchise, there could not have any a more fitting finale to the great brand which we know as Madagascar.

Gangs of Wasseypur: Movie Review

“Gangs of Wasseypur” reflects the tumultuous era of the 1970s in the coal mining district of Dhanbad and its surrounding region. The movie portrays the dark days of the gang war era of the region. Anurag Kashyap successfully brings out the temperament of those gory days through skillful direction supported by a gritty storyline. Though primarily a revenge story, the offbeat feel of the movie makes it a gripping experience altogether.

The story goes like this. Sardar Khan, played by Manoj Vajpayee, is the lead character in the movie. His only aim is to seek revenge for his father’s death from Ramadheer Singh, a businessman-turned-politician, played by Timangshu Dhulia. The film revolves around the life of Sardar Khan, his marriage and re-marriage, the butcher gang and introducing his son to the world of gang war.

The movie starts with introducing us to Wasseypur and then the plots shifts to the main story by introducing the main characters. The background is always the coal-mafia and helps the film with its original and mystical setting. The movie begins from the pre and then moves on to the post independence present era. This reflects the vengeance which has been passed from one generation to another. Here, one negative point about the movie is that you feel you have missed something even if you miss one scene. The storytelling might be a bit on the faster side as there is so much to show.

Syed Zeishan Quadri, Akhilesh Jaiswal, Sachin Ladia and Anurag Kashyap have written an excellent script which is very innovative in its own way. It reflects the various shades in the character of Sardar Khan, from being a womanizer to a caring father and a ruthless gang leader. Interestingly, the film also shares its unique brand of humor.

The direction of Anurag Kashyap is worth applauding. The scenes are very crisp and short; no fancy entries, nothing extravagant about the look of any character. There is lots of blood but none to make the matters sensational. The music score by Sneha Khanwalkar is a treat in itself. The music merges beautifully with the story and the background and gives the audience a unique experience of being one with the characters. The entire crew is exceptional and brings the characters alive.

Over all, Gangs of Wasseypur is a movie worth watching.

Brave: Review

The lines above summarize the story of Disney’s latest cartoon adventure movie “Brave”. The story revolves around Merida who is proud of her archery prowess. That is why she even refuses to marry.

Merida is angry over her mother’s attitude towards her. She feels that her mother is stealing away her life from her. Things take a wrong turn when her wishes are granted and her mother is transformed into something un”bear”able. Now it is up to her to fight the evil curse and bring her mother back to normal.

The relationship between Merida and her mother is heartwarming and very real. You might find the film to be a drag at first, however it gradually gathers pace. The USP of the movie is the climax which is unexpected and very soothing.

Pixar has given many 3D movies and this one excels all. The characters are cute throughout. You also get the opportunity to ride your fantasy like roaming around castles, fighting a bear, etc.

Being from the same group, both the teams have confronted each other in their group stage match and the battle ended in 1-1 score line. In rest of their matches against other opponents, both the teams were at their best to make their way to this final which is expected to be a classic and exciting match.
