Preview of Games to be Held on 31st of July and 1st of August – Part IV

There will be a number of sports that will be played on 31^st and 1^st of August at the London 2012 Olympics. Artistic Gymnastics, Equestrian Eventing, water polo and football are some of the events that will be held today and tomorrow.

This time, during the London 2012 Summer Olympics, there are a group of 196 women and men to astound the world with their act during artistic Gymnastics. The dates for the competition are from July 28^th to August 7^th. The venue for the Artistic Gymnastic is the North Greenwich Arena which will host the trampoline events as well.

There are 14 medals to be won. The events are divided into two. The men’s events will include Floor, Vault, Rings, Parallel and Horizontal Bars and Pommel horse. The women’s events will include Vault, Balance beams, Uneven Bars and Floor. Apart from these, there are single All-Around and also team fixtures.

The venue for Equestrian event during the London 2012 Summer Olympics will be the Greenwich Park. Greenwich Park, abode of the Prime Meridian, is the oldest Royal Park in London. The event has been divided into three stages keeping in mind the three events in the game. The Eventing half of the sport will take place between 28^th and 31^st of July.  The dressage and the jumping halves of the event will take place from the 2^nd-9^th of August and 4^th-8^th of August respectively.

The Eventing competition is completed in four days. The first two days is dedicated to dressing, followed by a cross-country race and finally ends with a Jumping skill test. The winner is decided after all the scores from the four days are added up. The riders have to race through a track which is between 5700 meters and 6840 meters long during the cross-country race.

This year at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, water polo will be held at the Water Polo Arena in the Olympic Park. The dates for the event are from July 29^th to August 12^th. The game is played by seven players at a time. The main objective is to score as many goals possible.

The teams for the men and women will be divided into 2 groups. The competition will be of 4 stages: the prelims, quarterfinals, the semis and the Finals. The winners of the semi finals will play one-on –one in the finals.

This year at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, Handball competition will start on July 28^th and end on August 12^th. The Copper Box at the Olympic Park will host the prelims and the quarterfinals for women, while the Basketball Arena, situated at the Park itself, will host the quarter finals for men along with semis and finals from both the groups. 168 men along with the same number of women will be taking part in this event. Objective is to score as many goals possible. A match is made up of two halves of 30 minutes each. The competition will be divided into four stages: qualifiers, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the grand finale.
